The water used by the Shuar community of Wee since 2010 was insufficient and highly contaminated. It was not only sourced from a local stream with a deficient amount of water, which made the distribution difficult, but was also polluted with runoff from cattle farming.
Step Forward designed a solution in order to provide water to all of the families belonging to the Shuar community of Wee and built it, afterwards, together with its members.
This solution allows an easy increase in distribution points, through manual connections to the main distribution network. It has also allowed members of the Shuar community of Wee to improve their quality of life. This is reflected in the possibility of washing hands frequently, bathing in the home, washing kitchen utensils and clothes with clean water, and obtaining more easily the water resource for its subsequent purification.
